Household goods
General household items. Material, durability and end-of-life are the criteria.
How to approach it
This category is too broad for a single standard. In practice, three questions make products comparable: is it a single material (and therefore sortable), can it be repaired or have parts replaced, and what happens to it afterwards.
Composite materials usually perform better and sort worse. Which matters more depends on the use.
What to check
- Single material or composite
- Repairability and spare parts
- Whether it fits your municipality's waste categories
- Disclosure of where and by whom it was made
